Privacy Policy for DreamTale

DreamTale is a mobile application that generates personalized bedtime stories for children using artificial intelligence. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app and our website handle, and how.

DreamTale is operated by Ramzy Jubrail Judeh Khalilieh, trading as DreamTale Studio, based in Bethlehem, Palestine. In this policy, “we,” “us,” and “DreamTale” refer to DreamTale Studio.

Our approach to privacy

DreamTale is built around a simple principle: your stories should stay on your device. The app has no user accounts, no cloud sync, no ads, and no analytics or tracking of any kind inside the app. We do not know who you are, and we do not want to.

This policy describes the small amount of information that must leave your device in order for the app to generate stories, narrate them, and illustrate them. It also describes the advertising measurement used on our promotional web page (see “Our website” below), which is separate from the app.

Information stored on your device

The following information stays on your device only and is never transmitted to us:

• The stories you create and save
• Child profiles you create (name, age, gender, clothes color, and appearance details such as hair color, eye color, skin tone)
• Character pictures of your child (the drawn, storybook-style pictures described in “Photos of your child” below)
• Your app preferences (language, picture style, text size, autosave, autoplay)
• Your story history and favorites

This data is stored locally using your device’s standard storage. You can delete all of it at any time from the Settings screen (“Delete All Data”). Uninstalling the app also removes it.

Information sent to our servers

To generate a story, illustration, or narration, the app temporarily sends the information needed for that specific request to our backend server and from there to the AI services listed below.

What is sent:

• For story generation: the child’s first name, age, gender, appearance description, and the story theme you selected.
• For illustrations: a text description of the scene, which may include the child’s first name and appearance description, the picture style you chose, and, if your child has character pictures, those drawn pictures, so your child looks the same on every page.
• For character pictures: the child’s first name, age, gender, clothes color and appearance description, or, only if you choose to, one photo of your child (see “Photos of your child” below).
• For narration: the text of the story page you chose to hear read aloud.

What is not sent: your email, your real name, your device identifiers, your location, your contacts, any photo you did not choose yourself, or anything else outside of the specific request.

We do not store story text, child profile information, photos or character pictures on our servers. Requests are passed through in real time. Generated illustration images are held briefly on our server so the app can download and display them; they are not linked to any identity and are automatically deleted, usually within one hour. Temporary server logs used for debugging are automatically rotated and deleted, and never contain photos.

Photos of your child (optional)

You can describe your child’s appearance, or, if you prefer, use one photo of your child so that the illustrations look more like them. Using a photo is entirely optional, and the app asks for your consent before the first photo is used.

• You choose the photo. The app opens your camera or your photo library only when you tap to add a photo, and uses only the one photo you pick. It does not read any other photos.
• How it is used. The photo is sent once, over an encrypted connection, through our server to our picture partner Runware, which draws a storybook-style character picture of your child from it. The app then shows you that picture and asks whether it looks like your child.
• What we keep. Nothing. Our server does not save the photo or write it to its logs; it only passes it on. The photo is not used for anything else, and it is never used to identify your child.
• What stays on your phone. Only the drawn character pictures (one per picture style) are saved, on your device. They are sent with your illustration requests so your child looks the same on every page, and are not kept on our server afterwards.
• Deleting. You can delete your child’s character pictures at any time from the child’s profile (“Delete pictures”), by deleting the profile, with “Delete All Data” in Settings, or by uninstalling the app.

Third-party AI services

DreamTale uses the following third-party services to power its features. Each processes only the specific request content described above and is subject to its own privacy policy:

• OpenAI (story text generation and narration) — openai.com/privacy
• Runware (illustrations and character pictures, including the optional photo of your child) — runware.ai/privacy
• DeepInfra (backup illustration service, used only if Runware is unavailable; it receives scene descriptions only, never photos or character pictures) — deepinfra.com/privacy

These services may temporarily retain API request data according to their own policies, for example for abuse monitoring. We encourage you to avoid entering real last names, addresses, or other sensitive personal information into story prompts.

Children’s privacy

DreamTale is designed to be used by parents or guardians who generate bedtime stories for their children. The app is classified as “Mixed Audience” under Google Play’s target audience policy.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Child profiles created inside the app (name, age, appearance, character pictures) are stored only on the device and are never stored by us. A photo of a child is only ever used if a parent chooses to add one and agrees to the consent screen, and it is used only to draw the child’s character picture, as described in “Photos of your child”. The small amount of data sent to AI services for story generation is limited to what is needed to personalize the story and is not used to identify or profile the child.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has entered information into the app that you would like removed, you can delete it at any time using the “Delete All Data” option in Settings, or by uninstalling the app.

Payments and subscriptions

DreamTale offers an optional premium subscription. All payments are processed by Google Play Billing on Android and by the Apple App Store on iOS. We never see or handle your payment card details. Google and Apple manage billing, refunds, and subscription status. Please refer to Google’s Privacy Policy and Apple’s Privacy Policy for information about how they handle payment data.

Our subscription management provider, RevenueCat, receives an anonymous purchase identifier from Google Play or the App Store to verify your subscription status. It does not receive your name, email, or payment details. RevenueCat’s privacy policy is available at revenuecat.com/privacy.

Our website (Meta Pixel)

Our promotional page at dreamtalestudio.github.io/free uses the Meta Pixel, a measurement tool provided by Meta Platforms, Inc. It records when you visit that page and when you tap an App Store or Google Play download button, so we can measure how well our advertising performs.

When you visit that page, Meta may use cookies and receive information such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you view, and may link it to your Facebook or Instagram account if you are logged in. We do not collect your name, email, or any information about your child through this page.

The Meta Pixel is used only on that web page. It is not used inside the DreamTale app. You can control how Meta uses this information for ads in your Facebook or Instagram ad settings. For details, see Meta’s Privacy Policy.

Your rights

Because DreamTale does not maintain user accounts or store personal data on our servers, there is no account to access or delete on our end. You retain full control of all data stored on your device.

If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, California, or any other jurisdiction that grants you specific privacy rights (including the right to access, correct, or delete personal data), those rights apply regardless of where we operate. To exercise any such rights concerning data that may have been processed by our third-party services, contact us at dreamtalestudio1@gmail.com and we will assist you.

Security

Data transmitted between the app and our servers is protected using industry-standard HTTPS encryption. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top. Significant changes will be communicated through the app or via the app’s store listings.
